Other Home Music Curricula I Love
I am not just a curriculum author, I am a current home educator. You would probably laugh if you saw my curriculum stash. Or not. Maybe you might fist bump me in camaraderie because you are in the same boat!
The point is... there are many paths to the same goal. I understand fully that my own materials may not be the perfect fit for your family. It most certainly takes a village, so below I have some recommendations for other wonderful home music curricula that you may enjoy!
Each of these curriculum programs are curated by current or former home educators. All are secular, but still warm and full of beauty. I recommend these because I love them. And the people who create them are pretty wonderful too... :)

For Studying an Instrument:
Living Music

Living Music, created by Jodie Mesler (who is the definition of sunshine in a bottle) offers a program called The Magic Flute for studying a primary level wind instrument (pennywhistle, recorder, or wooden flute) as well as a sweet piano program called Playful Pentatonic Piano. Both programs are designed for both the caregiver and child to explore the instrument together, and even offer virtual meetings with Jodie herself. Living Music is gentle and joyful, and well... living!
For Music Appreciation:
Thistles and Biscuits

Thistles and Biscuits is created by an incredible husband and wife team with a heart for inclusive, global education materials. With a background in linguistics and cultural anthropology, and a joy for travelling our beautiful planet and "worldschooling" their own children, Tim and Betsy have created an absolutely gorgeous compilation of various country studies, watercolor printables, animal studies, and an outstanding pair of music appreciation curricula! Woven Melodies and Living Harmonies both introduce different instruments, musical styles, composers, and artists from various parts of the world. I love how their program expands beyond the traditional study of only a handful of European, male, classical music composers. There is so much beautiful music in the world, I highly recommend giving some of it a listen with the wonderful guides from Thistles and Biscuits.
For a Waldorf/Steiner Philosophy Focus:
Hearth and Gnome

In 2017, Hearth and Gnome's creator, Kimberly Parsons, teamed up with Melissa Nielsen (creator of Waldorf Essentials and Seasons of Seven Virtual School) to fill the need for a Waldorf-true home music curriculum. For those looking for a music study that directly aligns with the Waldorf/Steiner philosophy, Music Unfolds is a lovely addition to your home education. After the wonderful response to Music Unfolds, Kimberly then set out to fill yet another need... an equally lovely Waldorf-inspired curriculum that is secular and not hemisphere specific. Simply Music addresses this need in easy-to-use lessons, and is pretty darn close to actually being open and go! Both Music Unfolds and Simply Music are absolutely lovely, and bring all the gentleness and beauty of a Waldorf music classroom into the home.
